Morocco Tourism Record 2024
Morocco’s Tourism Industry Achieves Record-Breaking Milestone in 2024
Morocco’s tourism industry is celebrating an exceptional year, as highlighted during the latest Board of Directors meeting of the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) in Rabat. The meeting, held on Monday and presided over by Minister of Tourism Fatim-Zahra Ammor, showcased the outstanding growth and achievements of the country's hospitality sector in 2024.
A Historic Achievement
According to data presented by the ONMT, Morocco welcomed an unprecedented 15.87 million visitors by the end of November 2024. This remarkable figure represents a 20% increase compared to previous years, solidifying Morocco’s status as a premier global tourist destination.
The surge in visitor numbers has also translated into significant economic benefits. Tourism revenues soared to an impressive MAD 97 billion, reflecting the sector’s pivotal role in Morocco’s economic development and its contribution to job creation and regional growth.
Strategic Vision and Efforts
The ONMT attributed this success to several strategic initiatives and promotional campaigns that targeted both traditional and emerging markets. Key investments in infrastructure, digital marketing, and partnerships with international travel operators have played a crucial role in driving this growth. The organization also focused on enhancing the visitor experience by improving services and showcasing Morocco’s rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and modern amenities.
Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor emphasized the collaborative efforts behind this achievement, stating: “This year’s record numbers are a testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in Morocco’s tourism sector. We will continue to build on this momentum to ensure sustainable growth and maintain our global competitiveness.”
Looking Ahead
As Morocco celebrates this landmark year, the ONMT and other stakeholders are already looking toward the future. Plans are underway to further diversify tourism offerings, expand eco-tourism initiatives, and leverage digital tools to attract a new generation of travelers.
With its unique blend of tradition and modernity, Morocco remains a beacon of hospitality and a must-visit destination for global tourists. The record-breaking figures of 2024 set a strong foundation for even greater achievements in the years to come.
